Hello Everyone,
Here is a link to the March Newsletter which is also available in the members’ area of the website.
In last month’s issue, most sectors were showing four-week gains. Although we were aware that the economy was fragile, GDP had gone up in 2022 and inflation was starting to come down. Most stock markets had gone up in January, and in February the FTSE 100 closed above 8,000 for the first time ever.
Unfortunately, since then market conditions have taken a turn for the worse. Last week the FTSE 100 saw its largest drop in twelve months, losing 6.9%. It’s now lower than it was at the start of the year, in fact it’s lower than it was at the beginning of 2022.
However, there is still some encouraging news coming out. It appears that inflation continues to fall, and for the moment it looks like we’re avoiding a recession.
The latest downturn has been triggered by some US banks failing and concerns over a global banking crisis. Governments and central banks are trying to reassure investors, but it’s still not clear how widespread the problem is.
As always, I hope that you enjoy this month’s newsletter and I look forward to hearing any feedback.
