Hello Everyone,
Here is a link to the May Newsletter.
The concerns surrounding the global banking sector, which spooked the markets a couple of months ago, seem to have abated and we’re back into the tug-of-war between inflation and growth.
Central banks are trying to control inflation, which soared to 40-year highs, by increasing interest rates. It seems to be working, but at the same time they need to be careful as they may be taking us to the brink of a recession.
For the moment it looks as though they might have got the balance about right, but unfortunately they haven’t got a particularly good track record (or else we wouldn’t be in the predicament that we are currently in).
There are also social ramifications. In the UK we’re facing a cost of living crisis and industrial action is at levels that we haven’t seen since the end of the 1980s.
Our demonstration portfolios remain predominantly in cash or the money markets, but have both made gains since this time last month.
As always, I hope that you enjoy this month’s newsletter and I look forward to hearing any feedback.
