So that you’re clear about how the Saltydog service works, let me run through everything that you now have available to you and the weekly schedule.
1. Two Members’ Guides
First off, there are two introductory guides for you. There’s this one that you’re reading, “Getting Started”. This covers the practical requirements for using the Saltydog system.
And then there’s our detailed guide to using the Saltydog system, “How to beat the market using trend investing”. This explains how we interpret the Saltydog data, how we identify profitable trends, and how we use our money to make the best gains and protect ourselves from falling markets.
Both of these guides are available in the Knowledge base of the website, or as PDFs which you can view or download at any time. Periodically we do update them, and of course we’ll let you know whenever we do that.
2. Two weekly emails from me
Every Wednesday I will send you two emails.
In the morning I send you an email to let you know that the latest updated Saltydog data is now available on our website. This is usually around 11.00 – 11.30am. In this morning email I also give you an overview of the weekly data, and my view of the market trends.
On Wednesday evening, usually between 6.00 – 7.30pm, I send you a further email which describes any changes (buys or sells) we are making to the Saltydog demonstration portfolios, along with an in-depth explanation of the reasons why.
If you wish, you can simply follow the changes that we make to our portfolios, and – if you have an online broker account – you can place your buy and sell orders right away, ready to be executed the following day.
3. The Saltydog sector and fund data, updated weekly
Every Wednesday morning we release the latest update of the Saltydog data on our website, app and downloadable PDFs.
The tables and charts show all the bestperforming sectors of the market, and the bestperforming funds within those sectors.
With clear, colour-coded charts and tables, it’s easy to pick out the winning and losing trends in the market at any time, and decide where to put your money. Plus I highlight particularly interesting trends and movements, with my notes provided alongside the data – so that you can benefit from our ideas and experience.
4. The two Saltydog demonstration portfolios: Tugboat and Ocean Liner
We run two demonstration portfolios, where we’ve invested our own money (around £40,000 in each) and apply the Saltydog system. One portfolio is very cautious – the ‘Tugboat’. The other portfolio is more adventurous – the ‘Ocean Liner’.
The point is for all our members to see how we apply the Saltydog system. I inform you of all the changes we are making week by week, along with the specific funds we are investing in.
This is to help you as an educational tool. But also, if you simply want to copy our own investment decisions and replicate our performance, it’s very easy for you to do so.
5. Monthly Saltydog newsletter
Once a month I’ll send you our monthly newsletter. Depending on your subscription model, this will either be printed via the post or the online digital version.
In the newsletter we give you additional guidance, helping you to spot the best sector trends, and providing you with advice on different aspects of successful trend investing – along with other general investing tips on pensions, ISAs, taxes and more.
6. Members App and Website
As a member, you now have access to the full interactive Saltydog app which is available as a mobile app on Android or Apple, or as a Website available on PC.
This interactive app allows you to navigate the wealth of data and analysis and enable you to pick the right funds at the right time for your own portfolios.
In addition to this you will also gain access to:
- Back issues of our monthly newsletter
- Back issues of our weekly data stored as PDF
- Details of our two demonstration portfolios: Tugboat and Ocean Liner.
7. Access to me, to answer any questions
Last but not least, as a Saltydog member you have access to me to answer any questions you may have.
There’s one thing I do have to make clear, which is that I cannot give you any personal investment advice. In other words, I can’t tell you which investments you should be buying or selling, or advise you individually about what you should be doing with your own money. If you need that kind of advice, please go and see an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
However I’m more than happy to explain the principles of the Saltydog system and how to use it in practice. So if you get stuck with anything, just send me an email at: info@saltydoginvestor.com and I’ll get back to you as quickly as I can.
